Regina King was nearly decapitated—we’re being dramatic, we know!— during a New York Knicks game Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden. King was sitting court-side enjoying the game between the Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers. Little did the Golden Globe winner know that she would narrowly avoid being kicked in the head.
Going after a loose ball, Sixers player Joel Embiid leapt into the crowd, where he came pretty close to giving King a kick to the head. But there’s no bad blood between the two. King tweeted after the game, “Yoooo. Thank you God and @JoelEmbiid for your athletic abilities. Crisis averted.”

We thank God too that an icon is safe and all is well. Still, the Sixers won, 126-111.
