This Sunday, Sheila Bridges will be featured on Oprah: Where Are They Now? The famous interior designer, once known for her beautiful curly hair, talks openly about her struggles with alopecia. Today, she’s redefining beauty. In the above clip, Bridges says, “I’ve had to redefine beauty. Because if you look to the outside world, to the media, to see what’s beautiful. I’m certainly not that.”
Bridges says it’s been important to her healing process to shape her own definition of the word. “Now, beauty to me should transcend hair. It should transcend hairlessness as well. Beauty is about feeling comfortable in your own skin.”
