Oh, the drama on American Idol!
Tensions between the judges hit a new high last night. It turned out to be Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson against Nicki Minaj—as expected. A young contestant sang “Lean on Me” and performed it with a slight country twist. The judges debated if she was a better fit for country music or something else.
In the moments that followed, Minaj grew visibly annoyed by the judges’ banter and said, “Why are we picking her apart because of a country moment? I feel like we’re going into ‘Are you country? Are you country? Do you like country? Do you like country?'” The rapper proceeded to get further upset when Jackson bragged on his music business experience. To that Minaj replied, “Oh, you’re right. I’m sorry I can’t help her. Maybe I should get off the f*cking panel” and stormed off the set. “Shut the f*ck up. Finish the show. I’m done,” she said upon her exit.
Was Minaj justified in walking off the set? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
