The rapper acknowledged that she made the comments in high school and that at the time she "obviously meant no harm."

Rapper Megan thee Stallion addressed recently resurfaced homophobic tweets that went viral earlier this week, writing that she’s now a changed and more mature woman.

The rapper took to Twitter Thursday to comment on the issue, writing, “You going this far over a tweet from 2012? that obviously meant no harm coming from me in high school, you mfs are sick.”

She added, “I’ve already apologized for tweets that obviously do not represent my views now. I don’t do nothing but show love to everyone so just stop.”

In the since-deleted resurfaced tweet, the rapper used a homophobic slur, writing, “This lil f****t just pissed me off.”

You going this far over a tweet from 2012 ? that obviously meant no harm coming from me in high school, you mfs are sick https://t.co/nkwRVd3ejN

I’ve already apologized for tweets that obviously do not represent my views now. I don’t do nothing but show love to everyone so just stop

Screenshots of other tweets have reportedly been shared, but the rapper has not confirmed or denied whether they are real.

Of course, since the tweet resurfaced, fans have debated whether the rapper should be canceled, with some pointing to other problematic celebrities who’ve been forgiven or highlighting Megan’s age at the time of the tweet.

Megan Thee Stallion is not cancelled. Just like Nicki who works with crackhead Brown ain’t cancelled and Cardi Cosby ain’t cancelled. Just the word makes my skin crawl. All y’all faves are trash or have done trash shit so stfu

— Pretty Hood Rat Barbie ۞ (@BritBratAlexiss) June 27, 2019

Y’all didn’t cancel Cardi, y’all didn’t cancel City Girls, y’all didn’t cancel Sabrina Claudio and y’all sure ain’t canceling Megan Thee Stallion ass.

Shut the fuck up & Get the fuck outta here.

We all was immature back in the day.. y’all pulling up 9 years old tweets on @theestallion and want her to be cancelled pic.twitter.com/NoVmqBIRxl

One fan added that they hope the rapper uses this opportunity to grow and will “think about why people were hurt in the first place.”

Don't just apologize and move on, make sure you really internalize what you said 8 years ago and why you said it. Think about why people were hurt in the first place. It'll stop you from saying anything homophobic again. Just use this as a lesson for growth. No one's perfect.
