Celebrities and dignitaries gathered in Washington D.C. this weekend for the opening of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial.

President Obama spoke to a crowd of thousands, reminding the nation that “we will overcome.” “I know this because of the man towering over us,” he said of the 30-foot granite monument to Dr. King.

Ledisi, one of the First Lady’s favorite singers, was also there to sing in Dr. King’s honor. She joined Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and the King family in remembering Dr. King’s legacy.

Here’s a look at the celebrities who attended this historic celebration.
