Congratulations are in order for Mahershala Ali and his wife, artist Amatus Sami-Karim. The couple is expecting their first child!
Ali shared the news on Instagram Friday, simply captioning a photo of the happy couple with his wife’s name. Ali and Sami-Karim married in 2013. The Moonlight actor and his wife met while students at New York University.
Speaking of his wife and her ability to keep him grounded, Ali told ELLE in 2014, “She and I have known each other for a really long time (about) 17 years. So, at this point, she’s seen a big shift in things, but at the same time, she’ll ground me real quick if I start feeling myself a little too much. She’s very real, like, seriously.”

The duo also has a cat named Nas, who will undoubtedly be excited about the new addition. Congrats, Mahershala and Amatus!
