Lizzo caught some heat this weekend after trying to prove that her sound fit in with today’s rap landscape.

To make her point, she compared herself to Future and Swae Lee, but fan backlash forced her to declare that she actually loved the two rappers.

“Sometimes I get pissed that there are people who call future & swae lee rappers and still question whether or not I belong in the rap conversation…,” she wrote in a since-delete tweet. “But then I remember I have the #4 song in the country, laugh, go back to my dream job and log off.”

Now @lizzo. You coulda just kept Future outta this. Wouldna been no issues fam. pic.twitter.com/uvvs4JstKj

Fans of both men interpreted the comparison as a diss, forcing her to later declare in a tweet that she had no issue with them.

“I forgot that the internet is not the place for my emotions anymore… love everybody goodnight,” she wrote in response.
