Kendrick Lamar just made history as the first rapper to ever be awarded a Pulitzer Prize. On Monday, it was announced that Lamar earned the Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album, DAMN. The organization called the rapper’s album “a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.” The news comes after Lamar won Best Rap Album at the 2018 Grammys. DAMN. was also nominated for Album of the Year. Obviously, Lamar’s Pulitzer Prize sent Twitter into a frenzy as fans praised and congratulated the rapper.             Lamar may not have nabbed the Grammy for Album of the Year, but ya boy got a Pulitzer!
