Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor is in talks to star opposite Rooney Mara and Joaqin Phoenix as Peter the Apostle in the new movie Mary Magdalene, THR reports.
The film is being described as an “authentic and humanistic portrait of one of the most enigmatic and misunderstood spiritual figures in history.”
Ejiofor, who was nominated for an Oscar for his starring role in 12 Years a Slave, has been in a series of sci-fi and action films lately including The Martian, Triple 9 and soon Doctor Strange.
