Jay-Z and Beyoncé may be “on the run” across North America right now, performing to sold out shows full of adoring fans, but that isn’t stopping them from giving back as well. The power couple announced over the weekend that they were handing out $1 million to students, only this time, the generous awards will go to high schoolers. As students head back to school, the BeyGOOD initiative and The Shawn Carter Foundation have partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to give away 10 $100,000 scholarships to “exceptional” high school seniors, who demonstrates financial need.

According to a press release about the new initiative, “the award will serve as a dedicated university-based fund for each selected student throughout the duration of the student’s enrollment.” The Boys & Girls Clubs of America will choose the students, who must prove that the cost of college could keep them from pursuing their education. Recipients will be chosen from 10 OTR II tour cities, including Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Arlington, New Orleans, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Clara and Seattle.

This isn’t the first time Beyoncé and Jay-Z have invested in education. After she dropped Lemonade, Beyoncé announced the Formation Scholarship for female students, and after she slayed Beychella with her Black college-inspired set, the mother of three gave away $100,000 to four students at HBCUs. Similarly, through The Shawn Carter Foundation, Jay-Z has helped scores of students afford college while also taking students on tours of some of the nation’s HBCUs. To paraphrase Jigga, what’s better than one billionaire? Young people who can now afford to continue their education thanks to the Carters.
