This Black-Owned Brand Is Making A Case For Natural Deodorant

Black-owned beauty brand Nubian Heritage just unleashed a new campaign that encourages everyone to step outside their comfort zone in more ways than one. 

The four-part video series, aptly titled “Venture Out,” will provide educational commentary on why transitioning to natural deodorant is the healthiest choice for your under arm skin. 

Nubian Heritage’s own 24-hour formula ($9, is offered in seven different scents and made without aluminum, an ingredient that stops odor, but also clogs the sweat ducts and has even been linked to cancer. It’s a no-brainer for the brand that’s prided itself on utilizing tradional healing ingredients since debuting back in 1992.  

In case you didn’t know, Nubian Heritage was co-founded by Richelieu Dennis (the CEO of Sundial Brands and SheaMoisture) and Nyema Tubman, whose humble beginnings trace back to Harlem, New York, where they developed African black soap and shea butter-infused products for their community. 

It goes without saying that their loyal partnership and winning formulas have paid off. In a press release for their latest venture, the brand says that shedding light on natural deodorant is critical given the amount of synthetic ingredients found in more traditional formulas.
