Madam C. J. Walker was an inspirational woman. As the first female self-made millionaire and who created an entire life for herself, she is the perfect icon for the “I Can Because She Did” campaign by the Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture hair care line. This campaign is to celebrate the “Modern Day Madams”, or women that defy the odds thrown at them every day as they create lives for themselves. Through a platform of empowerment, a meme generator is the first installment in the campaign where your own picture can be uploaded to the picture and you complete the phrase “I can ____. Because _____ did. Be ____.”
There are also 20 short films that showcase the entrepreneurial inspirational women who captured Madam Walker’s “audacity, ingenuity, empowerment, spirit of service and confidence to blaze her own trail.” Heart & Soul. Many of the influencers are Madam C.J. Walker’s great-great-granddaughter A’Lelia Bundles and style influencer/media personality Tai Beauchamp.
Sundial Brands breathed life back into the brand by launching the Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture exclusively being sold at Sephora and Sephora.com back in March 2016. You can learn more about the campaign and how you can be a part of it at here!
