Rooting For Everybody Black: The 2019 Golden Globe Nominees

Some of our favorite faces and films earned Golden Globe nominations this year. Here's a list of who they are.

Awards season is officially upon us! The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced Thursday its nominees for the 2019 Golden Globes. For films that featured a Black cast, Green Book led in nominations with five, followed by BlacKkKlansman, Black Panther, and If Beale Street Could Talk. Actors Danai Gurira, Terry Crews, Leslie Mann, and Christian Slater helped present the nominees, with Isan Elba, daughter of Idris Elba, acting as this year’s Golden Globe ambassador. Here is the list of this year’s Golden Globe nominees.

Black Panther – Best Motion Picture, Drama
The film also earned a nomination for Best Original Song for its hit song “All the Stars,” featuring Kendrick Lamar and Sza, and Best Original Score.

Barry Jenkins – Best Screenplay
Jenkins was nominated for his adaptation of James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk.

Regina King – Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture
King earned the nod for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk. She also received a nomination for Best Actress in a Limited-Series or TV Movie for her role in Netflix’s Seven Seconds.

Donald Glover – Best Actor in a TV Series, Comedy
Glover was nominated for his role on his FX series, Atlanta.

Mahershala Ali – Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture
Ali was nominated for his role in Green Book.

The film also scored nominations for Best Director and Best Screenplay, with Viggo Mortensen picking up a Best Actor nod.

Barry Jenkins and Regina King also picked up nominations for the film based on James Baldwin’s novel.
