Golden Globe Nominations Announced: Quvenzhané Wallis and 'Selma' Earn Nods

Viola Davis and Uzo Aduba also earned nominations.

‘Tis the season for award nominations. The Golden Globe nominees were announced this morning, and we spotted some well-deserving names on the list. Selma, in theaters everywhere January 9, snagged an impressive four nominations, including one for Best Motion Picture – Drama. Other contenders in the category include Boyhood, Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game, and The Theory of Everything. The movie’s lead actor, David Oyelowo, who plays Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., nabbed a nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama; its director, Ava Duvernay, is nominated for Best Director – Motion Picture; and “Glory,” by John Legend and Common, was nominated for Best Original Song – Motion Picture. The adorable Quvenzhané Wallis was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in Annie. On the television side, Orange is the New Black walked away with three nominations, including Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical. Other nominees in the category include Girls, Jane the Virgin, Silicon Valley, and Transparent. Uzo Aduba also landed a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren. Taylor Schilling was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical. Viola Davis, star of the hit How to Get Away with Murder, was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama. On a lighter side of things, Don Cheadle was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical for his role in House of Lies.
