Boo hoo hoo to Cherese for feeling so bad about poor poor Mashonda, who has been on so many magazine covers telling her boo hoo stories. Thank God maybe this one won't advertise her because personally I'm sick of all her accusations and little attention seeking stories. That is, Mashonda the unknown until all this scandal she started. Yes, I said she started. Why wasn't she as upset about any of the other women before Alicia? Hmm? Guess they couldn't draw as much attention to her and no one would even care. I say shame on her for making a personal situation so public. There are children involved. She can play Ms goody two shoes all she wants but none of this had to be brought to the media eye. She can thank herself when her child is openly questioned about her acts.

I'm disappointed that an article about a sister that became romantically involved with another sister's husband is the cover story. Will Essense do a cover story on Mashonda and the heartbreak and pain she suffered during all of this? Essence prides itself on being a magazine for sisters, supporting sisters, but somehow these standards were dropped when this topic was selected.

I thought the cover stories and gorgeous photo of Alicia Keys was both appealing and knowledgeable, and I couldn’t wait to bring it home to read. On my way home, I thought about some of the interesting information, facts, and news that I’ve always gotten through Essence and I couldn’t remember why I stopped my subscription……UNTIL I opened the magazine and ended on page 50 before I found a picture that I could relate to, meaning “where are all the darker completion, size 16 and above, females (and males) at? These are the actual people buying your magazine, and yet you are still cater to the size 0 and other 15% that don’t exist. How about more articles, information, and fashion for the other 85%!!!! Until then, I guess I won’t be renewing my subscription, and after years of bringing information and fashion to the African-American world, shame on you and get it together.
