A smiling Shaniya enjoys her special day with friends and family.
“Shaniya was very, very shy,” says her half-brother Byron.
“She loved the color pink and blue,” Byron shares.

On Monday, Shaniya’s body was found by rescue workers in a wooded area near a highway in Sanford, North Carolina.
“I didn’t think something like that could happen, I mean you see it on the news all the time but you would never think it would happen to you or someone close to you,” shares Byron Coleman.
Adding,“(I hope) other people don’t let this happen to their child.”
Byron says, “Once you got her to talk she would not stop.”
“She loved the color pink and blue,” he shares.
