On Monday, Shaniya’s body was found by rescue workers in a wooded area near a highway in Sanford, North Carolina.

“I didn’t think something like that could happen, I mean you see it on the news all the time but you would never think it would happen to you or someone close to you,” shares Byron Coleman.

Adding,“(I hope) other people don’t let this happen to their child.”
