First Lady Michelle Obama as well as a number of other noteworthy women will be on hand today to celebrate the unveiling of the first memorial bust of a Black woman to ever be placed in the Capital. The bust of abolitionist Sojourner Truth was sponsored by the National Congress of Black Women and took 10 years to complete. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Secretary Hillary Clinton, singer Yolanda Adams, actress Cicely Tyson and eight of Sojourner Truth’s descendants will also be there to celebrate the unveiling in Emancipation Hall in the U.S. Capitol building.
