Sad news for 90s music fans. Charmayne Maxwell of the R&B group Brownstone died Friday night in her home. TMZ reports that Maxwell fell and cut her neck on a wine glass. Her husband found her bleeding from the injury and called 911. She died on the way to the hospital. You may remember Brownstone as from their 1995 Grammy-nominated hit "If You Love Me." Maxwell was 46 years old. [TMZ]

Oscar winning actress Halle Berry wants to take on the role of a lifetime and portray legendary civil rights activist Angela Davis. “She’s just fascinating: the era she lived in, the Black Panthers and all that they stood for, and her connection to it, or not to it. I have a lot of respect for how she lived her life," Berry said.

She hopes to get Davis' blessing before even starting to develop a film about her life. Good luck, Halle! [The Grio]

Life truly does imitate art. Empire star Jussie Smollet has just signed a real life record deal with Columbia Records. Smollett, who stars as Jamal Lyon on Empire, will be able to make his own music but he still wants his TV family to work with him. "It’s going to be a whole different thing. Now, the Empire family will still have something to do with it," said Smollett. "I would love for Timbaland to come on." [Entertainment Weekly]

Fashion Police may be getting a big makeover. After Kelly Osbourne quit the show following Guiliana Rancic's comments on Zendaya's hair, the E! show is in need of a new host. Producers are reportedly eyeing Atlanta Housewife NeNe Leakes for the spot. They're also considering Khloe Kardashian, but no decisions have been made as of yet. [NY Daily News]

VH1 has pulled the plug on Hollywood Exes. Sheree Fletcher, the show's co-creator and ex-wife of Will Smith, says the cancelation was completely unexpected. "They don’t have to give you a reason. They just say, ‘You ain’t coming back’ and that’s it. It’s a wrap. We were shocked because our ratings were good and people loved the show, so you know, go figure.[Hello Beautiful]
