Fans who have been waiting for Ryan Destiny to share the video for her single “The Same” can finally rejoice.

Destiny dropped the video Friday, a visual nod to early 2000s aesthetics, telling ESSENCE, “The record is about a situation with a guy who’s a constant cycle of the same lines, lies, games and little to no effort. [Featured artist] Tobi adds his perspective from a male standpoint and the two worlds are brought together in an honest but fire way, I think.”

The singer-actress’s reign continues as the new single follows news of her casting in Flint Strong, which tells the story of Gold Medal-winning boxer Claressa “T-Rex” Shields. The film is set to be directed by Mudbound cinematographer Rachel Morrison and written by Moonlight’s Barry Jenkins, who won an Academy Award for best adapted screenplay.

Destiny also has a recurring role in the upcoming third season of Grown-ish as Jillian, a transfer student from an HBCU who heads to Cal U to study filmmaking.

Stormzy – “Own It”

British rapper Stormzy has tapped Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran for new single “Own It.”

Directed by Nathan James Tettey, the video for the single puts women front and center as a group of friends head out for a night on the town.

Tinashe – Songs For You

Tinashe certainly did what she had to with her latest release, Songs For You.

Seizing control of her sound and career, the album is the singer’s first independent release from her label, Tinashe Music Inc.

The album features collaborations with Ms. Banks, 6LACK, MAKJ, and G-Eazy and includes recently released single, “Die A Little Bit.“

Lucky Daye – “Karma”

Following four Grammy nominations, including Best R&B Album and Best R&B Song, singer Lucky Daye dropped the video for “Karma,” a single from his debut album Painted.

Funny and stylish, the video sees karma personified as a jealous, hard to read lover that Daye just can’t seem to get over.

PartyNextDoor – “Loyal” ft. Drake

PartyNextDoor has returned, releasing two new songs, “Loyal” and “The News.”

For “Loyal,” the singer tapped Drake as they pair crooned about a lover who’s there no matter what, even during long summers on the road.

PartyNextDoor released his last project, PartyNextDoor 3, in 2016. It’s rumored that “Loyal” and “The News” will appear on the singer’s fourth studio album, Club Atlantis.

Buju Banton – “Steppa”

Legendary Jamaican artist Buju Banton released a new video, “Steppa,” on Friday.

The single follows Banton’s recently released “Trust” and his “Long Walk To Freedom” tour, which kicked off in March in Kingston, Jamaica at the National Stadium and is set to come to an end in April with the Love & Harmony Cruise.

“Steppa” also arrives with the announcement of Banton’s new partnership with Roc Nation. In a statement, Roc Nation co-presidents Shari Bryant and Omar Grant called the partnership an “honor,” referring to Banton as “a legend and trailblazer.”

“We’re thrilled to help propel his legacy forward and look forward to amplifying his resurgence on a global level.”
