Jason Mitchell is joining actress Taylour Paige along with other previously annoynced cast members Colman Domingo, Riley Keough, and Nicholas Braun in the upcoming Zola adaptation.
The film is based on the now-infamous viral story from Aziah ‘Zola’ Wells, who took to Twitter to detail two wild days in Florida that involved a violent pimp, a random woman named Jessica, and her boyfriend, Jarrett.
Mitchell’s role is unknown, but Paige will play the titular character.
After sharing her story on Twitter, Zola spoke to Rolling Stone to detail the aftermath of her viral success. Even celebrities were enthralled by the saga, with Ava DuVernay tweeting, “In India reading #Zola. Drama, humor, action, suspense, character development. She can write!”
The film is currently in production.
