What can’t Megan Thee Stallion do? Besides rapping, dropping a new album, and leading a world tour, she’s partnering with Amazon to promote Prime Day on July 16 and 17th with a specialized music video.
Megan and directors David Meyers and Mia Barnes put their heads together to conceptualize a music video commercial that encapsulates the rapper’s multiple personas while encouraging Amazon’s customers to use Prime Day to use the deals to get closer to what they care about. For example, Megan loves home decor, cooking, dog toys, gaming products, and her Hot Girl Tour merch.
Now, Prime members can shop Megan’s Prime Day picks inspired by her different interests featured in the music video. Some hot picks include early deals on items from her new Hot Girl Summer tour collection, an exclusive collaboration with Amazon Music.
Ahead of Prime Day, we spoke to the artist about what inspired the creative music video, her favorite alter-ego from it, and her go-to Amazon picks. Scroll below and check out some of the items.
ESSENCE: Speak about your involvement in creating the innovative music video!
It was a collaborative effort between Amazon and myself, but they were extremely supportive and open to many of my creative ideas. I also did all my stunts for the music video, so I’m proud of how we brought the Megan Thee Daredevil persona to life because I don’t like heights. At the end of the day, it was a great experience—my friends know how often I use Amazon, so it was an authentic and organic partnership.
Megan Thee Stallion: As a woman with many alter-egos, which one was your favorite featured in the music video?
My favorite had to be the Megan Thee Cosplayer alter-ego. But I also had a blast filming the Megan Thee Stylist part of the video with 4oe – he is a natural star, so I enjoyed watching him shine. I loved all the personas because they each showed a different side of my interests and passions.
How did you come up with your favorite Amazon Prime Day picks? What was your selection process?
You know, I had to have my Hot Girl Summer Tour merch for my Prime Day picks, so that was an easy decision. One of my favorite Prime Day picks was the Hot Dog Summer T-Shirt – one for all the Hotties who have dogs or have friends with dogs. It was just so cute!
What essentials are you picking up on Amazon that are helping you get through the tour and have a Hot Girl Summer?
I have so many! But I would say the must-have items for me while I’m on the Hot Girl Summer tour would be:
