The film, which garnered six nominations, earned an award for Best Picture Drama during Sunday night's ceremony.

It was a big night for many at this year’s Golden Globes and Moonlight, one of the year’s biggest films, did not go home empty handed.

Nominated for six awards, Moonlight earned a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Drama, one of the most anticipated categories of the evening.

Director Barry Jenkins and the cast and crew of the incredible film took the stage to accept the award, with Jenkins thanking his mom by quoting Fences, “‘I gave you everything, I gave you your life,’ mom you gave me my life and I hope being on this stage right now is a fulfilment of the life that you gave me.”
