Music has been a healing force as the whole world has been devastated by the mass shooting in Orlando. And Andra Day has lent her voice in comfort to those suffering from the tragedy.
The Grammy-nominated singer—who will take the stage at ESSENCE Festival, June 30-July 3 in New Orleans—dedicated her performance of "Rise Up" at a taping of the PBS show Austin City Limits to the victims of the Orlando nightclub massacre and their families. It was a powerful moment that really drove home the inspirational message of the song during a dark time when everyone's spirits were in dire need of uplifting.
