The wage disparity between White male doctors and Black female doctors is $100,000.
A new study has revealed a finding that is to no degree shocking: white male doctors are making more than both their female counterparts and Black counterparts, male or female.
The wage disparity between White male doctors and Black female doctors, however is surpising, as the difference in earnings comes to a staggering total of $100,000.
Financial income breakdown shows that White male doctors take home an average $253,042 a year and a Black male earns $188,230 in a year’s time. As for female MDs? The average salary earnings for White women is $163,234 and for Black women, the earnings are $11,000 less at $152,784.
Dr. Dan Ly, a VA Boston Healthcare System physician said that the findings show that there are not only racial disparities but gender as well.
"Our findings are not only disconcerting for black male doctors but also highlight the lower incomes of female doctors relative to their male peers.”
Wage equality has been a big topic throughout the year.
Back in April, Nicki Minaj spoke out about the demand for equal pay saying, “I would tell women starting out in business, if you know you’re great at what you do, don’t ever be ashamed to ask for the top dollar in your field."
