It has been a month since E’Dena Hines, the step-granddaughter of Morgan Freeman, was brutally killed by her boyfriend, Lamar Davenport.

In Davenport’s first court hearing, he pled not guilty to the fatal stabbing, and according to his lawyers, he is scheduled to undergo a psychiatric evaluation later today, reports People.

Hines was killed August 16 in New York City. According to witnesses, Davenport appeared to be on drugs and performing an exorcism, stabbing Hines 15 times outside of her apartment building while casting out demons. Davenport was charged with murder.

We continue to send our prayers to Hines’ family.
