Legendary makeup artist Tom Pecheux created a "youthfully dramatic" metallic gold eye at Badgley Mischka this morning. Here's how to recreate the look.
Backstage at Badgley Mischka today, Tom Pecheux (for MAC) navigated a gaggle of reporters, all eager to hear his inspiration for the glitteringly glam cat eye he created, "The black and gold in the collection captured my attention in the fitting. They asked me to keep the girls looking elegant, chic, and—rich," he said. Pecheux prefers sheer makeup on the face explaining that "The more you do foundation, the more you need powder. The more powder, the cakier your skin looks." He cited good skincare as the key to the no-makeup makeup look and suggested Eau Thermale Avene Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream as a moisturizer for extreme weather conditions (like, say, New York in February). The cream is actually used as a healer for scars and diaper rash and is very rich, so Pecheux cautioned using it as a daily treatment. It's more of a "heavy artillary" sort of moisturizer.
Now, on to the eye. Pecheux created the thick cat liner with MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack with brush #209, an ultra fine liner brush that gives you the control you need to create this sharp straight line. The glittering gold line on top is MAC Superslick Liquid Eye Liner in Pure Show. The shimmering gold is easy to wield—try to create one clean line so the look is graphic not smudgy.
