The usually comedic actor turns into an action hero in Alex Cross.
Forget the dresses and wigs you're used to seeing him in — in his upcoming film Alex Cross, Tyler Perry picks up guns and kicks butt.
The top director steps into the shoes of Alex Cross, the detective character made famous by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. Perry picks up where Freeman left off only to take on more dangerous crime. The film, directed by Rob Cohen, co-stars Matthew Fox as the psychotic and deranged Picasso, who's obsessed with pain and enjoys torturing beautiful women.
In their epic war against each other, Cross vows to protect his wife (played by Sparkle's Carmen Ejogo) against the crazed killer. The film also features a cameo by Cicely Tyson, who plays Cross' concerned mother.
Alex Cross hits theaters on October 19.
