Celebs team up to support East Africa.
East Africa is in crisis. There are more than 9 million people dying of starvation and many of your favorite celebrities are doing their part to help, and hoping that their fans will do the same.
On Tuesday, the Bob Marley estate teamed up with Simon Fuller and Island Records Founder Chris Blackwell to globally release a new video for Bob Marley and The Wailers’ 1973 song “High Tide or Low Tide” to educate people on the crisis in East Africa and urge them to give what they can. “
The Marley family, partnered with Save the Children, plan to donate all profits from the sale of the music video to the organization. The family also released an official letter asking for fan’s support in this tragic time, and encouraging them to share the video through social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. More than 150 celebrities have also joined their fight. Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, and Rihanna are among many of the celeb supporters who have asked their fans to watch the video and donate.
Rapper 50 Cent said he plans on feeding a billion people in Africa, and he more than plans to make good on that promise. He is launching a new energy shot drink called “Street King”, reports BevIndustry.com. One meal will be provided for a child in need each time each time a drink is purchased.
Group mates Kanye West and Jay-Z are watching more than the throne. The pair plan to auction off the custom Maybach car that was used in their new “Otis” music video to raise runds for East Arica.
