The President and First Lady have already made their presence in the White House memorable by opening it up to the public like never before. But now, the public will be able to enjoy a new aspect to their home. The Obama have apparently put calls out to museums, galleries and private collectors to ask to borrow modern art by African-American, Asian, Hispanic and female artists to display in the White House, according to the Wall Street Journal. Their choices are sending ripples through the art world as whatever pieces they chose could change the life of the artist and the market value of their pieces. The National Gallery of Art has already loaned five works to the White House. A spokesperson for the White House has said that the First Family enjoys all types of art but want to “give new voices” to modern artists of various, diverse backgrounds.-WLW
