Making plans to see President-elect Obama’s inauguaration in January? Well, better start saving up now. A New York Times article reports that a three-bedroom house in suburban Virginia has been rented out for $57,000 for inauguration week while a four-bedroom in suburban Maryland went for a whopping $60,000 for the same amount of time. Hotels in the DC area are nearly at their max and now even campsites are said to be filling up with some people taking their trip on the road with RVs. The owner of a 43-foot houseboat docked in the Washington Channel is asking $20,000 for a week’s stay. This and other housing options have sparked the creation of Inauguralhomes.com, a fee-based Web site that will help any visitor find a warm place to stay that week. The founders have said that 10 percent of the proceeds will go to help the homeless.
