Get ready to get your praise on. Verizon Wireless is sponsoring the second annual How Sweet the Sound, a gospel competition that will search the nation for the Best Choir in America. To participate in the 11-city tour, choirs are urged to register beginning April 1 at howsweetthesound.com. The groups chosen to compete will sing for a chance to win up to $50,000 in cash and prizes. Songwriter and music director Donald Lawrence will serve as the tour emcee and gospel artist and nine-time Stellar Awards winner Marvin Sapp will act as the overall tour judge for the competition’s second year of existence.
Last year, the Acme Missionary Church of Chicago was crowned America’s best. The competition will scout for talent in the following cities: St. Louis; Atlanta; Newark, New Jersey; Detroit; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; Chicago; Memphis; Houston; Oakland; and Los Angeles.
