Maya Rudolph has teamed up with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for Universal’s comedy, The Nest. The actress will play the childhood friend of the duo. The comedy is sure to be a knee-slapper as the Saturday Night Live alums decide to throw one last party in their childhood home before their parents sell it. Rudolph has also landed a starring role in the indie drama The Greens Are Gone. Production for The Nest begins this month, Rudolph will then move on to Boston to begin filming Greens Are Gone. After Midnight will end its Broadway run early with the last show closing out June 29. Despite seven Tony Award nominations and great reviews, the show failed to bring out the crowds. Planned appearances by Gladys Knight and Natalie Cole have been canceled. Lead producer Scott Sanders says that discussions are underway to take the show on a national tour in order to recoup some of the $7 million investment. Michael Sam has signed a historic four-year, $2.65 million contract with the St. Louis Rams. The All-American lineman from the University of Missouri who came out as gay in February during interviews with ESPN and The New York Times and was selected in the April 2014 NFL draft told reporters, “I’m determined to be great.” [HuffingtonPost]
Rihanna has been sued by a man accusing her of copying one of his works in her 2010 video for “Rockstar 101.” James Clar says that Rihanna stole a concept from his 2006 piece “You & Me” for her video. Clar is suing in France where plagiarism laws are more favorable. He is seeking 4.9 million euros in damages, or $6.64 million dollars. [Vibe]
