L.A. Police Carelessness Might Sabatoge “Rihanna” Abuse Case
The Los Angeles Police Department’s sloppy work might just give Chris Brown his walking papers, according to E! News.
The Jive Records crooner’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, has asked that the case be dismissed because of the mishandling and internal leaks from within the LAPD’s surrounding the alleged attack by Brown on his estranged girlfriend Rihanna.
“The leaks can form the basis for a motion to dismiss the case in regards to outrageous governmental misconduct,” said Geragos.
Last February, Los Angeles’s finest began an intensive probe into their department to uncover the culprit responsible for releasing the photos of a bruised and beaten Rihanna to TMZ.com. Although the site claims to have obtained the photos legitmately, it’s a major foul up that could work in Brown’s favor.
Although Brown was a no-show at Wednesday’s hearing, the judge granted Geragos a postponement until May 28, at which time the evidence collected will determine whether the case warrants a trial. Still, a preliminary hearing could possibly begin in June.
However, Brown, who has pleaded not guilty to assault and making criminal threats, might cop a plea deal with prosecutors before then.—KNB
