Black activists in Riverside, California, are accusing officials of unfairly targeting Black-owned barbershops with raids, according to Associated Press. Investigators are accused of infiltrating businesses with guns and bulletproof vests and have even gone as far as questioning shop owners and their customers without warrants, according to the AP. On Wednesday, a federal lawsuit was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California, claiming that the Moreno Valley Police Department, Sheriff’s Department and a state inspection board conducted searches under false pretext giving the reason for their intrusion as a procedure for a routine health inspection.—JW
