Her Leading Man: Lance Banks Reece, 30, Senior Export Analyst
The Big Day: October 2012
Wedding Location: Atlanta
How did you meet your man?
Lance and I have been together for over four years. We met at work in the elevator. We both felt the energy between us. It was overwhelmingly familiar and loving even though we had never met. Two months later, I saw Lance again. He actually reintroduced himself to me. I thought it was very funny. I said “Didn’t we meet in the elevator a couple of months ago?” He said, “Oh yes…you are right.” Soon after, Lance began emailing me to see how my days were going. Then the simple check-ins turned into requests for dates. I resisted his requests at first but then decided to take him up on his offer. Even though I knew in my heart this man was designed just for me, I still decided to take it slow. I told him let’s just be “easy breezy.” After a couple more magical dates, “easy breezy” turned into exclusivity. Since that time, we have been inseparable.
Describe your most romantic date ever.
It was my 30th birthday. Lance made the day all about catering to me. It consisted of a full day of events, which included gifts throughout the day, breakfast at our favorite spot, a day at the Aquarium and a massage. To top the day off, he took me to the Sun Dial restaurant in downtown Atlanta, where it sits 723 feet above the city. The restaurant has a beautiful view of the Atlanta skyline and it rotates around the city. The day was simply amazing and romantic overall.
Who said the “L” word first?
I said it first thinking that he was asleep and couldn’t hear me.
Why is he the best man for you?
He is the best man for me because of his huge heart, tenacious spirit, ambition and the love he has for his family, friends, and me.
How did he pop the question?
Lance proposed on Saturday, August 20, 2011, after three and a half years of dating, at Atlanta’s newest and trendiest downtown restaurant called Do (pronounced “dough”). He invited me to go on the balcony to take a picture with the Atlanta skyline as our backdrop. (He knows I love pictures.) After the waiter took the first picture, Lance got down on one knee and proposed. It was so genuine, surreal and romantic. Lance and I made history as being the first couple to get engaged at Do. I always said to my family and friends that I want a great story when I finally meet the man of my dreams. I can honestly say that I have the best love story ever with Lance as my partner, lover, and best friend for life.
What was really going through your mind as he proposed?
I was thinking, “Is this really happening?” I thought I was in a dream.
Fill in the Blank: I think he chose to marry me because ________.
I love and support him 200 percent.
Who would you cast to play your future hubby in a movie?
I would want Mr. Lance Banks Reece. If I had to chose a celebrity, it would be Morris Chestnut.
Second to his heart, what’s the other sexiest part of his body?
His smile!
