Nominees for this MTV Movie Awards have been announced and12 Years a Slave leads with Movie of the Year and Best Male and Female Performance for Lupita Nyong’o and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Michael Fassbender is nominayed for Best Villain. Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan is nomintaed for Best Breakthrough Performance. Kevin Hart received two nods for Ride Along in the category of best comedic performance and best on-screen duo with co-star Ice Cube. Ashanti will lend her talents to the upcoming Tupac Shakur biopic, which is slated to hit theaters in 2015. The singer revealed that she is going to be working on the score with producer L.T. Oprah is set to produce and HBO mini-series on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. David Simon, the writer behind The Wire, Homicide and Treme, will pen the six-hour series titled, America: In The King Years. The show will be based on the celebrated book trilogy by Taylor Branch. [Deadline]
Bresha Webb has landed the female lead opposite Romany Malco in ABC comedy pilot Keep It Together loosely based on the life of comedian Kevin Hart. Written by Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan the comedy will follow post-divorce life of a couple, Dereck (Malco) and Lorraine (Webb) as they work past their differences and remain friends for the sake of their children.
