'Queen Sugar' Recap: Thy Will Be Done

There's no drama quite like sibling drama.

One of the most fascinating family dynamics is between siblings. One minute, they’re enraging each other and the next they’re body slamming the whole world to protect each other.

This certainly was the case on Wednesday night’s installment of Queen Sugar titled “Thy Will Be Done.” In the heart-wrenching episode, Nova (Rutina Wesley), Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) and Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) argued with two repo men that were on their family farm attempting to reclaim a piece of leased equipment.

These three had just bickered over whether or not they were going to sell the family farm or keep it. But the minute there was a threat, they banded together. Of course, Ralph Angel took the confrontation to a whole new level when he attempted to protect his family’s honor by pulling out a gun. This didn’t stop the men. In fact, one of the men pulled out a gun in kind creating a very tense and frightening standoff that had Black Twitter on edge.

And then the most miraculous thing happened. Little boy Blue (the ridiculously adorable Ethan Hutchison) came out of the house and convinced his dad to put down his gun. We love you, Blue. Seriously, is there enough tissue in the world for a scene this moving?

Other scenes of note include Ralph Angel and Darla (Bianca Lawson) rekindling their lustful past, Aunt Violet (Tina Lifford) and Hollywood’s (Omar J. Dorsey) loving heart-to-heart about marriage and sacrifice, the Black farmers’ meeting and Charley’s empowering decision to keep the farm.
