Twitter Wasn't Happy About the Billboard Music Awards Prince Tribute

No one was here for the nonsense last night. 

Madonna's much talked-about musical tribute to Prince at the Billboard Music Awards has come and gone and as expected, Twitter was not impressed.

After a heartfelt introduction by Questlove followed by an opening performance of "Nothing Compares 2 U," Madonna was joined on stage by fellow music icon Stevie Wonder for a duet of "Purple Rain."

Although most who found themselves underwhelmed with Madonna's tribute expressed some sense of relief when Stevie appeared on stage, the slander of the performance resumed when viewers realized that it had come to an end before it had barely begun.

As a result, the Twitterverse seems to have gotten their hands on nearly every Prince gif in existence and put it to use to sum up their collective disapproval through an overflow of hilarious tweets.

Although a select few felt The Purple One actually would have approved of the tribute...

...most felt it left much to be desired.
