Ice Cube Isn't Surprised By Oscar Snub: 'It's the Oscars, They Do What They Do'

The film only received one nomination—for Best Original Screenplay.

Straight Outta Compton received one nomination from the Academy Awards this year, much to everyone's dismay. But not Ice Cube.

During an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, the actor said the lack of recognition was not a shock.

"I'm not pissed," he said. "I'm not surprised. It's the Oscars, they do what they do."

The film received a nomination for Best Original Screenplay, which prompted Williams to extend her congratulations but she added that she "expected more" for the film other than it's sole nod.

"Me too," Ice Cube replied.

Straight Outta Compton was a box-office success this summer and made history as the highest grossing film with a Black director.
