Today marks 30 years since the English group Sade — named after their lead singer Sade Adu — debuted with their worldwide hit album, Diamond Life. To date the album has sold over 7.5 million copies thanks to hit songs like "Smooth Operator" and "Your Love is King."

In this commemorative video, VH1 shows founding members Sade Adu and Stuart Matthewman, as well as and MSNBC host Touré, talk about the band's origin and the albums lasting impact.
