The legendary singer opened up to Billboard about her upcoming project and more.

It's been five years since Janet Jackson released new music. According to an interview with Billboard, the pop legend will be hitting the studio pretty soon.

"I am working on a new project now," said Jackson. "We are creating the concept and initial thought on the music. I am excited about the direction we are taking. I don't want to rush it… I don't want to put a time constraint on the creative process."

Despite beginning work on her new album, Jackson's been keeping an ear to the radio these days. She says she enjoyed Kendrick Lamar's "Poetic Justice." "I'm really enjoying what Bruno Mars and Adele are doing, a lot artistry there," she followed up.

In February, Jackson made headlines when she confirmed she married her billionaire boyfriend Wissam Al Mana. "The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true," said Jackson. "Last year we were married in a  quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony."
