The 24-year-old man who charged 52-year-old puppeteer Kevin Clash of having a sexual relationship with him at 16 now admits his allegations were false and that the relationship only occurred once he was an adult. While his name has been cleared, media experts say the damage to Clash’s reputation may be irreversible.
A source told the Chicago Sun-Times that Clash’s return to Sesame Street was “highly unlikely." And though Sesame Workshop, Clash’s employer, expressed relief that the matter had been resolved, they did not indicate whether or not he would be welcomed back to the organization. “I am relieved that this painful allegation has been put to rest,” said Clash in a statement.
