TMZ has obtained documents in Florida in which Lozada claims her marriage is "irretrievably broken." The two wed on July 4 on the island St. Maarten in a lavish ceremony that was set to air on their new VH1 show, Ev and Chad, before the network pulled the plug on it Tuesday. Johnson, who joined the Miami Dolphins in June, was cut from the team on Sunday after meeting with team officials.
Their domestic dispute began when, according to Florida police, Lozada found a receipt for condoms in Johnson's Maserati. During the ensuing argument, he allegedly head-butted Lozada, leaving her with a 3-inch gash on her forehead. (Johnson claims it was Lozada who head-butted him.) She was treated for her injuries at a nearby hospital and was released. Johnson was booked on domestic violence charges and was released on $2,500 bail.
Earlier today, Lozada released a statement about the incident: "I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me. It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well."
The troubled newlyweds had a prenuptial agreement in place.
