As expected, The View co-host left the show on a high note, thanking the judges for allowing her a shot at a dream. Even her closest friends are looking on the bright side.
“I am heartbroken for my friend,” says Community star Yvette Nicole Brown, one of Shepherd’s celeb besties. “I’m sure there are lots of reasons to do DWTS, but Sherri did it simply for the love of dance!”
On Monday night, during week three of the competition, Shepherd and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, danced the tango for the judges. It would be their last performance. To Brown, Shepherd has still come out a winner.
“She conquered her fear of doing something unfamiliar, lived one of her dreams and did it with a light and joy that lit up the dance floor,” says Brown. “For those reasons, I will smile for my friend, in spite of this disappointment.”
For now, we’ll continue to root for musical icon Gladys Knight, Jaleel White and David Driver, all of whom still remain on the show.
