Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five's 1982 single, "The Message," will be the first hip-hop recording to be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame!

According to The Grio, "The Message" is one of 25 records selected by the Recording Academy's strict governing body, which reviewed each record for its cultural impact and historical significance." The song selected must be at least 25 years old.

The announcement was made on Monday that the song will be inducted in 2012, along with other albums and speeches of note, including Dr. Martin Luther King's, "I Have a Dream" speech, and Bill Cosby's album, "I Started Out as a Child."

"The Message," released on Sugar Hill Recrods, depicted the violence and corruption of inner city living.
