Though Black women may be seeing a decline in joblessness rates, unemployment among Blacks overall continues to be twice the national average. And when employed, statistics show that one in every four Black adults is underemployed, reports Diversityinc.com. Underemployment is defined as working full time at a job for which you are overqualified or working part time at a job but seeking full-time employment. Overall, people with little to no college education are the most likely to be underemployed. Among this demographic, fewer people remain hopeful about finding suitable work. According to a new Gallup poll, 40 percent of underemployed people believe they will find work in the next four week -- down from 43 percent in forty-three percent in May. The Gallup poll was based on phone interviews with more than 20,000 U.S. adults around the country.
