Today’s topic: My husband’s angry because I want to work Shirley and Steve: Currently my husband is the only person that is employed in our family. I am sick. I have a brain tumor, epilepsy and kidney issues that doctors can not quite diagnose yet. I had a stroke in 2005 and I have had more than 13 surgeries since we were married in 2003. By the way, I am 34 years old. I was told last year that I could not work anymore. So I applied for Social Security. I went from making $68,000.00 a year to nothing. My husband is a good man he works hard to balance working and my medical crap and our three kids — 14, six and five. But he only makes $12.00-per-hour through a temporary service, so we have no insurance. We are sinking financially. We had to move into a much, much smaller home and we are behind on everything! I need to go back to work. I have to help. This is not fair. It’s not right. I can work for short periods of time. So I secretly applied for a job and interviewed and got the job and I start working in two weeks. My husband is so angry with me that he will not talk to me. My husband does not yell at me and he
yelled at me. He says it is wrong for me to risk him and my kids losing me to make money, but I feel it is wrong to ask my son to wear underwear that doesn’t fit and my girls to be in shoes that are too small because of me. I think the guilt is so heavy sometimes it makes me worse. I do not know what to do I love my family I can not make them live like this for me.
