Utah Elects First Black Woman Mayor

Meet Mia B. Love, mayor of Saratoga Springs and the first Black woman to be elected mayor in Utah, Desert News reports. In 2008, the U.S. Census Bureau reflected that out of the 2.6 million people in Utah, 49.5 percent were women and a mere 1.3 percent of those were Black. "We're forward-thinking. We're not bound by racial stigmas," the new mayor told Desert News. "People don't care about that. They don't even see a color."
