One of the greatest revolutionaries of the civil rights era would have been 84 years-old today. Born Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925, Malcolm X was a former Boston and Harlem hustler who went on to become a prominent member of the Nation of Islam but left in 1964 following a tension with Elijah Muhammad. He founded the Muslim Mosque, Inc. and black nationalist group, the Organization of Afro-American Unity. Less than a year after he left the Nation of Islam, Malcolm was assassinated while giving a speech in New York City at the Audubon Ballroom. –BB
